International Wine Challenge, UK Jun 2010Heartland Directors' Cut received world wide attention on the 30 June, when announced it had won Four major trophies at the prestigious International Wine Challenge (UK) 2010.
- International Shiraz Trophy
- Australian Red Trophy
- Australian Shiraz Trophy
- South Australian Shiraz Trophy
From over 10,000 entries, only 111 wines were awarded a trophy in the competition.
Only 12 wines from Australia made it through to the final stage. The trophy stage is the final round for the award-winning wines. Having already received a gold medal through the Challenge's rigorous judging process, the wines are tasted once more by an elite panel of judges against others in the same category, to determine if they are worthy of a Trophy in addition to their Gold Medal.
Heartland were thrilled to discover that the Directors' Cut had won four Trophies.
"2007 was a very small cropping year but the calibre of fruit was exceptional" says winemaker Ben Glaetzer. "The 07 Directors' Cut is a great representation of the fantastic fruit from our Langhorne Creek & Limestone Coast vineyards. I am very proud to see Directors' Cut receiving such attention on the world stage".
Judges comments on the 07:
" Intense almost black core. Youthful rim. Very stylish, super clean nose. Blackberry and a hint of eucalyptus. Immediate and appealing on the nose. Mouth filling ripe blackfruits/sweet black cherry and cream flavours - very ripe. Appealing with some creamy vanilla notes on the finish. Some grip to tannins but finely textured".
