Halliday awards Heartland 4 stars

James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2007 Edition
 Oct 2006

Heartland Wines 4 stars

This is a joint venture of 4 industry veterans: winemakers Ben Glaetzer and Scott Collett, viticulturist Geoff Hardy and wine industry management specialist Grant Tilbrook.  It draws upon grapes grown in the Limestone Coast and Langhorne Creek, predominantly from vineyards owned by the partners...The wines are principally contract-made at Barossa vintners and represent excellent value for money.

Directors' Cut Shiraz 2004, Langhorne Creek & Limestone Coast

Good hue; rich, supple, sweet blackberry, raspberry, plum and spice fruit; soft, ripe tannins; good oak.

Rating: 93 Drink 2015

Heartland Shiraz 2004, Langhorne Creek & Limestone Coast

Dense colour; a very attractive mix of black fruits, dark chocolate and spice; good tannin and oak management.

Rating: 91 Drink 2010

Heartland Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, Langhorne Creek & Limestone Coast

A rich, ripe profusion of flavours from cassis to capsicum, and just about everything in between; good tannins; will repay cellaring.

Rating: 90 Drink 2012

Heartland Dolcetto Lagrein 2004, Langhorne Creek

Rich, lusciously sweet and ripe red cherry and a wrapping of chocolate - cherry ripe indeed.  Soft tannins and minimal oak.

Rating: 90 Drink 2009

Heartland Petit Verdot 2004, Limestone Coast

Very good colour as always; richly robed black cherry, plum and mint; soft, ripe tannins.

Rating: 90 Drink 2010

Heartland Viognier Pinot Gris 2005

Surging aromas a little off-putting at first; intense pear, cuitrus and apricot flavours; good length though highly idiosyncratic.
