2005 Top 20 Wines of the Year - Heartland Shiraz 2004
Philip Rich, Financial Review Magazine Nov 2005For those that like bang for their buck, this medium-to-full-bodied
and unctuous (but not too over the top) shiraz certainly delivers the
goods. Made from Langhorne Creek (68 per cent) and Limestone
Coast (32 per cent) fruit by Ben Glaetzer (a partner in Heartland who
has also released some top-notch and well-priced wines under the
Glaetzer label this year), there are copious amounts of dark berry
fruits, liquorice and vanilla (all the oak is French) on the nose while
the palate simply oozes ripe, yet not too heavy or unbalanced,
delicious shiraz fruit flavours. To be enjoyed now and over the
next couple of years.
