"..The most intense under-a-tenner shiraz I've ever tasted is Heartland Shiraz 2002 Limestone Coast (£7.99, Oddbins). Its black label, illustrated with what appears to be a gravedigger's shovel, gives a good clue as to the contents: drinking it is like plunging into the inky darkness of a deep well shaft. It has a whiff of bushfire, and liquorice and bitter chocolate flavours that go well with a rich venison casserole.."
