Best Buys for Viognier Pinot Gris 04 & Stickleback White 04

Wine Enthusiast Magazine
 Aug 2005

Heartland Viognier Pinot Gris 2004: Sounds like an odd blend, but you know what? This Ben Glaetzer wine works. It's a 75-25 Viognier dominant blend, with a fragrant bouquet of honeydew, flowers and fresh cream. Its flavour profile (peach, some coconut, maybe some banana) may sound as upscale as a pina colada at a Cancun resort, but a wiry, dry citrus spine reins in the wine's more rambunctious notes.

Stickleback White 2004: Here, 25% Verdelho is an unexpected component to a typical Sem-Char blend, and the overall result is a very pleasing one. This is a fresh, clean white, with pear and Granny Smith apple flavours and a flinty-chalky feel. great for the outdoors, and priced reasonably enough to keep a few extras around the house.
